Overview

Trek to Helambu from Helambu is a place where high hills, Tamang and Sherpa village lies, about 80 km from Kathmandu. Helambu extends from Lauribina La pass to the Melamchi valley. This place is famous for its sweet apples and short fast trekking form Kathmandu valley. This trek is suitable for cooler months of December to February. Helambu trekking region is popular among the trekkers for its nature beauty and promising climate.

Helambu trekking is an 8-day long trek which starts in Kathmandu. 5-6 hours daily walking is needed in this trekking so physical fitness should be fit. The normal trailhead starts from sundarijal and goes through Kutumsang, Magin Goth, Tharepati, Chisopani, Hyolmo. Maximum height to reach during the trek is about 3650m range only. The trekking start from sundarijal were hydroelectric and a small dam. The largest pipe come out of the hills at the end of west of sundarijal. There is now bus service to sundarijal from boudhanath. Across the dam then continue hill climbing through a wet sub tropical forest on to Mulkharkha(6220ft) there lodging facility. There is tamang village with lodges and view of Kathmandu valley. don’t walk along inNorth of Mulkharkha there has been rare case. After about an hour’s walk we enter shivapuri national park. The trails ascend to a pass burling bhanjyang(8000ft). After 2 hours walk through a pleasant oak forest, Chisapani(7200ft) which means “cold water”. Trekking continues to descend through open farm land to reach Path Bhanjyang(5800ft). There is a police check post were you have choice of two routes. One from same way east Sherpa village of melamchi ghyanng and another east descends to the melamchi khola opposite melamchighyang.

Small villages between kutumsang and Melamchi ghyang on the way are also exhilarating place to experience forests and water resources. Then Trek to Malemchi Puul Bazaar where you can find proper lodging and shopping of local product and handcraft. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu

Your flight will be landed at the international airport of Nepal. A representative of Nepal-Guide will be there to welcome you with the warm greetings and then we will be guided towards the hotel room of Kathmandu. The night will be at Kathmandu discussing about the trekking along with the crew members.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Sundarijal and trek to Chisapani

Early morning, we will wake up at the hotel of the Kathmandu and we will be served by the delicious breakfast at the hotel room. Then we will move towards the beautiful road trip towards the Sundarijal which will takes about 1 to 2 hours in bus to reach at Sundarijal. Then we will continue towards the main trail form Sundarijal to Chisapani. On the way, we can see many teahouses where we can have our lunch to continue the trail up to Chisapani for the rest of the night.

Day 3: Chisapani to Kutumsang

From Chisapani, we will walk towards the Kutumsang. The trail will offers us the great scenario of the surrounding. The night will be fantastic at Kutumsang at the altitude of 2470m above sea level.

Day 4: Kutumsang to Tharepati

From Kutumsang, we will walk through the main trail which is enormously beautiful towards the Tharepati. The trail will follows the forest of rhododendron and other varieties of vegetation while trekking. The en route beauty will continue until we will reach at Tharepati to the height of 3510m above sea level.

Day 5: Tharepati to Tarkeghyang

From Tharepati, we will walk towards the Tarkeghyang. The route will offers us great scenario of the surrounding while making our trek to the elevation of 2740m. The night will be splendidly beautiful at Tarkeghyang.

Day 6: Trek to Sermathang

From Tarkeghyang, we will trek towards the Sermathang. The trail will offers us great scenario of the surrounding while trekking at this region. The en route beauty will surely mesmerizes us. The night will be at the altitude of 2510m above sea level.

Day 7: Sermathang to Melamchi Pul bazaar and drive to Kathmandu

From Sermathang, we will trek towards the beautiful region of Melamchi Pul bazaar. The trek will offers us great view of the surrounding. The trek will continue until we will reach at Melamchi Pul Bazaar. Then from Melamchi Pul Bazaar, we can catch the bus to Kathmandu which will take about 4 to 5 hours through the beautiful environment.

Day 8: Farewell

After completing our exhilarating trekking, we will do some shopping at the local market of Kathmandu. Then, we will arrange our Packages and will move towards the airport to catch the splendid flight over to our own destination. We will surely enjoy the farewell party organized by the Nepal-Guide.
