Overview

Island Peak is otherwise called 'Imja Tse'. It is a noteworthy pinnacle that is situated inside the Everest area of Nepal. It was named "Island Peak" by Eric Shipton and his endeavor group in 1953. The pinnacle contains gigantic ice scope that can be seen from Dingboche. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu (1300mtrs)


This will be your first day to enter Nepal. A representative of Trek to Nepal travels and tours pvt. Ltd. will be waiting at the Tribhuvan international airport on the day of your arrival. Then we collect the visa and move on towards the hotel to check in. Now we shall hold a meeting in which we introduce our crew with you along with the guide and collaborating team (if any). There is a special provision of dinner in which you will be served with the delight of Nepalese meal.  Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu with bed and breakfast option.

Day 2: Flight to Lukla (2,800mtrs) about 40 mins and trek to Phakding (2,654mtrs) 3-4 hrs


Early morning we have our breakfast and catch the flight to the Tenzing-Hillary airport of Lukla. The flight is one of the most beautiful airways passing over the snowy mountain peaks and the beautiful green hills having terraced fields over them. The porters and other crew members will be met at the arrival to Lukla. We stay there for some more time and then head towards the Phakding. Since our body comes to sudden height it may be outside our comfort zone which perhaps leads to medical problems. So we have a short hike so that our body acclimatizes during the sudden change in the environment. We can just walk through the monasteries and religious places of Phakding but it is highly recommended to not to travel to the higher altitudes on the same day. Thus we shall stay overnight at the hotel in Phakding with full board option. Meals of all three times shall be provided.


Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m): 5-6 hours


Today we are walking through the deciduous forest of the hilly region of Nepal having an abundant amount of pine trees fir trees and juniper trees. The flow of milky white looking water in the Dudhkoshi river crossing through high suspension bridge is also a medium of attraction towards this destination. First glimpse of Mt. Everest can be seen from the view point that comes after about half of the way you climb. The 6 hour hiking will not be boring any more because of the scenario of mountains like Thamaserku, Kushum kangaroo, Tawache and dozens of other lofty Himalayas with the chirps of birds on the pine forests. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at guest house with full meal option.

Day 4: Exploration and acclimatization at Namche Bazar


This day we shall stay and rest at the Namche Bazar for acclimatization to cope with the altitude. We won’t travel any higher altitude but rather utilize the day by moving around Namche Bazar. We walk through the villages having residence of the Sherpa and Bhote community. You will enjoy the walk through the villages as it is an opportunity to enjoy the traditional countryside lifestyle of the Nepalese people. Then we shall visit the local museum and the nearby villages. We can even hike to Everest View Hotel to take a closer view of Everest standing with pride at the lap of Mother Nature. You can also hike to the Khumjung monastery to get information about the existence of Yeti. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overtight at guesthouse in Namche Bazar.
 

Day 5: Trip to Tengboche (3,870mtrs) 5-6 hrs


We shall march towards Tengboche on the fifth day of our Island Peak  trek. Tengboche is the largest monastery of the Everest region.  Tengboche having mountainous surroundings is the main attraction of the trip. There is a divine ceremony performed at the 03:00 pm daily in this monastery. This trail goes through the Sagarmatha National park; the successive natural heritage of Nepal to be enlisted in the world heritage sites by UNESCO. This means this place carries equal natural significance as well as cultural importance. Moreover at Tengboche we can enjoy the view of the Himalayan Mountains like Mt. Everest Mt. Ama Dablum, Mt.Nuptse, Mt. Thamserku, Mt.Lhotse and other lofty mountains surrounding us. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at guesthouse in Tengboche.

Day 6: Exploration of Dingboche (4,360mtrs) 5-6 hrs


We shall hike towards the Dingboche which is today’s destination. Your passion for photography shall arise by seeing the richness of the forests and the thriving landscape in many portions of the trail. The mind sets flight as we move on through the rich coniferous trees and rare deciduous trees too. Birches and rhododendrons are also found across the route. The Imja river bridge is also a centre of attraction in the trail. The trail then descends to Debuche. After a short descend there are two routes. The first route is the upper Pangboche trail and the second is the lower Pangboche trail. Following the trail of your choice we move on towards the Pangboche monastery. We can see the stone-wall fenced fields dressed with the grains like barley, buckwheat and potatoes. The fields look even more amazing when the buckwheat starts to bloom into beautiful pink flowers. Then we reach Dingboche and walk around the Dingboche. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at guesthouse in Dingboche.
 

Day 7: Walk to Chhukung (4,730 mtrs) 3-4hrs


Today’s trip shall commence in the lap of the proud and glistening mountains of the Himalayas such as Mt. Ama Dablam, Nuptse- Lhotse edge, Mt. Tawache, Mt. Chalotsheand many others. The fields sowed in traditional style by the professional farmers. We then come to the Imja Khola valley which is of the best location for the pristine views of Nature. Then we walk crossing the glacier moraines and icy streams. We finally see the first glance of the Island peak today towering high up in the sky from a place called Bibre. The trail then leads to the small village called Chhukung.Additionally, the Amphu Labsa Mountain can also be observed from here. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at guesthouse in Chhukung.

Day 8: Explore and acclimatize at Chhukung Ri (5,546mtrs) 3-4 hrs


Today, we shall stay at Chhukung village and climb the Chhukung Ri peak so that we can adjust the climatic conditions at high altitude of the Island Peak. The climb is easy and is very near to the Island Peak. This acclimatization is suggested by the health experts as it is essential and helps to prevent health problems like altitude sickness. The view from the top of Chhukung Ri peak is extensively magical and heavenly. Ama Dablam and Amphu Labsa peaks are clear and can be seen closely which makes you feel so close to Nature. After some quick snaps at the peak we slowly descend towards Chhukung village. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at guesthouse in Chhukung village.

Day 9: Ascend to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m) 3-4 hours


The Trek to the base camp of the Island Peak passes through a bit more difficult than the other trails so far but scenic beauty across the pathway is comparatively no less. We start ascend to the Island Peak base camp from the south and then turn towards east. There is a twisting path below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse Glacier. A twisting route through the Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines leads to a wide valley flanking the southwestern side of Island Peak. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at Island Peak Base Camp.

Day 10: Pre-climb training 


The climbing of any peak without a pre-climb can be risky. So our team has specially arranged the day to make you feel comfortable physically as well as confident mentally. Our professionals will also inform you about the use and importance of climbing materials like ice axe, climbing boots, crampons, harness, ascender, etc. You will also be informed about the uses of ropes and climbing up and down with the help of a rope.  We will climb a 5770mtrs high rock for practice. This will not consume the whole day so we can just move around or high camp or rest. We shall sleep early to wake up at midnight for the next day’s climb. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at the Island peak base Camp.
 

Day 11: Conquering of island peak 6,189mtrs 10-12 hrs


Today we have a real early wake up. We start our day at midnight immediately after a very early breakfast and march on for our climb. The top of a mountain has continuously changing weather and this may come as a barrier to the successful conquering of the Island peak. So we shall reach the apex of the mountain by the time it is mid-day. The beginning of the trip is easy on sandy path to walk though the walk toughens on a steep rock channel with the rise in altitude. Then comes the gully rock which is not very difficult to come over. After many tiny steps over the gully rock we come to the ridgeline of the mountain. Now the time has come when we fix a rope and use it to climb the peak.  Crevasses should be crossed by using the ladders. Then we have a short walk and we reach to the top of the summit. Again after snapping some more memories at your phone or camera we retrace our path to the Island peak base camp. Our successive descend to the Island peak base camp gives us the pride of conquering a snow covered peak.Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at the Island peak base Camp.

Day 12: Descend to Pengboche 5 to 6 hrs


During our descend we can take the upper route if we have taken lower route in our ascent or vice versa. Today we shall watch the Khumbu river.We again pass through the Sherpa villages named Orshe and Shomare. The same mountainous scenario can be seen and the memories of the ascend will be refreshed.The hike ends at the pengboche village arises. Pangboche is a scenic village surrounded by Everest to its north, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtaiga to the east or we can even visit the oldest  Gompa (monastry) of the region located at Pengboche. The same mountainous scenario can be seen and the memories collected during the ascend will be refreshed. Meals of all three times shall be provided.Overnight at the guesthouse at the Pengboche village.

Day 13: Slide down to Namche Bazar 4 to 5 hrs


Today we shall walk down to the Tengboche from Pengboche. This is the trip that makes you cross the white Dudhkoshi river whose water seems as white as milk once more. Then come the turn to review of the flora and fauna of the trail seen while going to the Island Peak through the forest route. After the continuous following of the pathway we reach Namche Bazar; our destination for today. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at the guesthouse at Namche Bazar.

Day 14: This is the day with the longest and the steepest descent throughout the trail.


Our experienced guides have reported that the people have continuous complains for their legs going shaky when they face the steep decline. So our guides will warn you to take special care in certain places of today’s trip. Today we recall many of our experiences. We yet again cross the suspension bridge or the Dudh Koshi river. Then we reach to the Lukla. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight at the guesthouse at Lukla.

Day 15: Flight to Kathmandu


We today catch a flight to Kathmandu early in the morning. We will reach Kathmandu by noon. Then we can shop some of the handicrafts as the keepsake of your trip to the Himalayan paradise. There is an arrangement of farewell supper at a hotel in Kathmandu. We share our e-mails and contacts. We also share the best moments of the trip. You can also suggest or direct us for our betterment of our services in our further trip. Meals of all three times shall be provided. Overnight in hotel at Kathmandu.

Day 16: The departure


With long smile in face and a sad corner at heart and many hopes for you to be back, we say goodbye to you. We shall thank you for being with us to share your beautiful moments of life. Then we will leave you at the Tribhuvan international airport and wish you a safe journey and wave until we are at our sight.
